Is teak good for a shower bench?

Does a teak shower bench need to be sealed or oiled?
Not for water resistance — teak's own natural oils protect it. Left untreated, it will weather from golden-brown to a silvery-gray patina over time, which is cosmetic only; occasional teak oil or sealer just maintains the original color longer.
How do I clean mold or mildew off a teak shower bench?
The EPA recommends scrubbing with plain detergent and water, drying completely, and increasing bathroom ventilation to prevent recurrence — harsh chemicals aren't necessary. Teak's natural oils resist mildew better than most woods, but soap scum still needs regular cleaning like any shower surface.
Is a teak shower bench safe for elderly users or ADA bathrooms?
